Once you have enrolled, simply select a Delta Dental Patient Direct dentist, make an appointment and present your ID card at the time of treatment. Participating dentists agree to charge enrollees no more than the discounted amounts shown on their Delta Dental Patient Direct fee schedule. Delta Dental Patient Direct is a discount plan, not insurance, so Delta Dental is not involved in the appointment scheduling or payment arrangements.

Enrollees are entitled to discounts on specified dental services for one year, beginning with the date the Delta Dental Patient Direct ID card is received.

The majority of dental care services and procedures are discounted, including routine cleanings and exams; fillings; major services such as crowns, bridges, implants and orthodontic care. Even tooth bleaching procedures are discounted. Refer to the Patient Direct Sample Schedule of Discounted Fees for a list of the costs applicable to the most common dental procedures. Ask your participating Delta Dental Patient Direct dentist for the discounted fee that applies to any procedure specific to your care or not shown on the sample schedule.
After I enroll in Delta Dental Patient Direct, when will I be eligible to receive discounts on dental care services?

Yes, but discounts do not apply to any services received prior to enrollment in Delta Dental Patient Direct. Discounts apply only to treatment received from a participating dentist during the time enrolled. To receive discounts on treatment scheduled prior to enrollment, show the dentist your Delta Dental Patient Direct ID card before treatment begins.

You may select any Delta Dental Patient Direct dentist for any service and each family member may select a different participating dentist. Discounts only apply from dentists who participate in Delta Dental Patient Direct, so always refer to the most current provider directory.

Delta Dental Patient Direct discounts only apply when services are received from a Delta Dental Patient Direct participating provider. To receive discounts, be sure you select a dentist in New Mexico who participates. If your dentist would like to consider being a Delta Dental Patient Direct provider, he or she may contact the Delta Dental of New Mexico Professional Services Department for information.

Is the Delta Dental Patient Direct provider network nationwide?
No. Delta Dental Patient Direct features a provider network available exclusively in New Mexico. Some Delta Dental Member Companies in other states have Delta Dental Patient Direct available in their states, but only Delta Dental Patient Direct dentists in New Mexico have agreed to the discounts available under the product available through Delta Dental of New Mexico.
Do I need to notify Delta Dental of my dentist selection?
No. Simply select a dentist from the Delta Dental Patient Direct Network and schedule an appointment. After enrolling, all communications related to services and payment for those services is between the participating dentist and the Delta Dental Patient Direct enrollee.

No. There are no claims to file because Delta Dental Patient Direct is a discount plan, not dental insurance. Fees for dental care services are discounted but the patient is responsible for paying the participating dentist directly.
When does a Delta Dental Patient Direct dentist expect payment for services?
Payment arrangements are between the Delta Dental Patient Direct enrollee and the participating dentist. Ask your dentist about her or his payment requirements before you receive services. Most dentists require payment in full at the time of service.

Applicants may print a Delta Dental Patient Direct application and submit it to Delta Dental of New Mexico with a check for amount of the initial and annual enrollment fees or enroll online with a credit card payment. May I enroll my spouse or family members when I enroll?
Certainly. Delta Dental Patient Direct enrollment fees are less per person when more than one family member enrolls. Eligible dependent children include natural children and/or any stepchildren, legally adopted or foster children living in the same household are younger than age 25. Adult dependents who do not fall into one of those categories may elect Delta Dental Patient Direct as a single enrollment.
What if I want to enroll a dependent after I have already enrolled in Delta Dental Patient Direct?
To be eligible for a family rate, dependent(s) must be enrolled at the time the first person enrolls. Adult dependents who wish to enroll after that may enroll in Delta Dental Patient Direct by paying the initial and annual enrollment fees.
